Tourism Information
In the last few years, Guinea-Bissau has invested heavily in the protection of its biodiversity and ecosystems. The creation of the National System of Protected Areas (SNAP) stems from the recognition of the important role these areas play in sustaining populations, are the basis for regional and local economic activities, and contribute to the health and diversity of the global environment. Therefore, tourism and sustainable ecotourism in Guinea-Bissau have the potential to promote economic growth and employment.
Guinea-Bissau's tourism strengths lie in its natural resources and cultural assets. The Carnival stands out as a major cultural event, featuring many stages that celebrate Guinea's festive traditions with local ethnic expressions. The country's unique biodiversity can be combined with strong cultural resources, namely the hospitality of the local people and the cultural diversity of the country, to create a unique tourism product. The rich and colorful tempting food, cultural festivals, traditional songs and dances, and handicrafts further enrich the tourism experience.
The tourism industry in Guinea-Bissau is becoming increasingly important, due to the awareness of its potential and natural conditions, as well as the importance of attracting more domestic and foreign investors, in order to create suitable infrastructure and services and meet higher international tourism standards.
